Sekirei ~pure engagement~ first impressions [episode one]

And the first of the summer 2010 season airs!  It even comes with the OP sequence!

First of all, pardon the screencaps since I had to watch this aired with the stupid headers.

Secondly, let’s start off with the musical OP and the ED – truthfully, I had expected the OP to be more upbeat like last season’s, but it didn’t fail to deliver the Sekireis in action.  With the cast of Sekirei ~pure engagement~ singing the opening, I can’t help but think that it’s actually pretty sad yet intense at the same time.  I mean, supposedly this is the last season so I doubt that the anime will be faithful to the manga (and the manga’s been on a hiatus right now) but it’s still Sekirei, which means epic fights between hot girls with super powers.

The ending, on the other hand, is basically surrounding Minato and how every Sekirei wants to be around him.  As his undying popularity is a mystery to us all, the ending was pretty funny with the landlord (Sekirei 01 to be revealed) basically getting ready to scold the crap out of everyone.  The ending song was a bit more dull yet there was the brass that supposedly would try to help us play along with the concept of the chibi art, but sadly a bit disappointing.

This episode, apart from the epic introduction with the single-digit Sekirei kicking the sh*t out of the armies, was basically a recap of everything within the space of the home.   On the brighter side of things, it seems that 7Arc has decreased the fanservice with every girl bouncing on Minato (but there is still some to be reckoned with) but we’re focusing on the actual story more so that’s good.  On the side note, Benitsubasa looks like one of the first main villain as she goes to spy on the household.  Damn, that was a nice pose on her couch… and I’m not complaining about the outfit either.

I’m glad that the first Sekirei to die in this season was a manly-woman Sekirei, which is totally wrong in my book.  Sekirei are not supposed to be on the boundary of being a man with giant boobs.  Otherwise, I might have to gauge my eyes out.  It was an entirely recap episode, so let’s see what 7Arc can bring us next week.  On the side note, is it sad that I know every Sekirei that has been introduced by name and number?

"Fist of my contract, break the calamity of my Ashikabi!"

On a even more unrelated note, I’m only blogging this and Amagami SS this season so I can start doing my ‘Anime for the Sake of Anime‘ reviews.

I like the way you’re looking this show.
I loved it and still do, but I got alot of hate atmosphere from others so I was kinda expecting the person to review this would do it in a “this show sucks” kind of attitude. But LUCKILY, you don’t have the feeling. I hope to be able to watch this show, but if I don’t I’ll be counting on your reviews… so please give a synopsis of the episodes if you don’t mind. :)

Btw, WHAT’S UP! Long time no “see”… How you been? *wonders if you still remember him*

hey … i like the frist ep…it wasen’t bad they did recap that i think every body understand i think Minato look like maya husband lil bit if he had white hair…. why does every Sekirei want to be with minato . does it have to do with that his mom work MBI or his mom was the one of the scientist that found out about Sekirei……. or is it that he is main chacter that why

I think it is part of the story that every Sekirei wants to have the closest bond to her master… But I also think its the shows way of putting that echii touch into the show.
